Basil Brown's description: Atlas céleste, troisiéme edition. The preceding atlas was revised, corrected and augmented with a large number of stars, and some new constellations by Jean Baptiste Joseph Delambre and Pierre François Andre Méchain. 8vo, Paris, 1795. During the interval between the two French editions were published the following important issues of Flamsteed's atlas: New edition, containing a very fine portrait by G. Vertue and 27 engraved star-maps, as in the first edition, folio, Londini, 1781. Lettie S. Multhauf's description: This reduced edition of Flamsteed's atlas was first published in 1776. The atlas is followed by "Position des principales étoiles, pour le premier janvier 1800 de l'ère vulgaire." The stars in this list were reduced by Duc-la-Chapelle, who, after leaving the Collège de France, built an observatory in Montauban, a city in S.W. France.
