LSM's description: Goldbach was professor of astronomy in Moscow and a member of the Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg. Von Zach mentions in the foreword that this atlas, based on the 1795 reduced French edition of Flamsteed's atlas, was especially designed for the use of amateurs and beginners. To facilitate recognition of the constellations, they are traced in white against a black background.
